This Saturday we welcome the Voter Awareness Council to co-host a forum of candidates running for  Position 5,6 and 7 on the Woodlands Township Board.  Andy Dubois, Executive Editor of the Villager/Courier, will be the Q&A moderator.
All the candidates have been invited, at the moment there are six who have accepted.

Steve Gorman, our A.L.L. Program Director has graciously agreed to step in for Curt Gibby, and do the honors and will present the “Current Events” Portion at the Start of the forum.

Steve Leakey, will introduce the  Voter Awareness Council.

Bruce Cunningham will talk briefly about the “Aging in Place” concept, a way for seniors to live in their homes longer.

The Issues: The following questions were sent to all the candidates.  You can read their replies here.

GOVERNANCE –

What specific action, if any, do you plan to take during your two (2) year term regarding governance issues, that is:

1) The existing organizational structure of The Woodlands Township government?

2) The relationship with Montgomery and Harris Counties? 

3) Incorporation planning, if any, during your term? 

4) What experiences and skills qualify you to accomplish these tasks?

Given that all roads in The Woodlands are constructed, owned and maintained by entities other than The Woodlands, what role will you play in meeting your mobility priorities? 

What experiences and skills will you rely upon to effectively represent the interests of The Woodlands? 

BUDGET –

The current Board of Directors has voted for the 6th consecutive year to decrease the property tax rate (2016).

How long do you anticipate this downward trend in property tax rates will continue and why? 

On the consolidated expenditures side, do you believe that the existing overall budgeted expenditures are too high, too low or just about right? Why? 

What experiences and skill do you bring to the budgeting process?
